About Frome Valley Dog Retreat
Hi, I’m Debbie.
Dogs and animals have always been at the heart of my life. I grew up surrounded by the countryside, family pets and dogs of all shapes and sizes, and caring for them has always come naturally to me.
The land surrounding Frome Valley Dog Retreat has been part of my family for generations. Many years ago, my grandparents kept pigs here, and after my nan, Beryl, passed away, I bought the property and gradually transformed what was once the old piggery into the home I live in today.
When I moved here, I was joined by my much-loved Jack Russell siblings, Beryl and Herbert, who were named after my nan and grandad. Beryl was truly my soul dog. She was my constant companion, my comfort and my shadow through every part of life. The calm, home-from-home environment I’ve created at Frome Valley Dog Retreat is inspired by her and the special bond we shared.
Over the years, I’ve been lucky enough to care for a wide variety of animals, including horses, cows, rescue dogs, Labradors, Spaniels and many much-loved family and farmyard companions. Every animal has their own personality, quirks and needs, and that experience has shaped the way I care for every dog that stays with us.
Today, Luna, my little Jack Russell, is very much part of daily life here and loves welcoming visiting dogs into our home, whether they’re big, small, young or old.
For me, this has never just been about dog boarding. It’s about creating a safe, relaxed and caring environment where dogs feel comfortable, settled and genuinely part of the family while they’re with us.
